Finding a New Hair Salon: Difficult But Possible

Finding a New Hair Salon: Difficult But Possible

Summer is here and if you’re planning to make a statement at home or on the beach, then let your hair be your hallmark. This piece will answer an age-old question asked by women all across America: how do you find a new hair salon that will suit all your hair needs?

A lot of women fall out with their hairdressers or their hair salon for whatever reasons. Just a tiny slip-up could break years of loyalty and friendship, but bad hair from a salon is one of those unforgivable things in life, so it’s quite understandable. You also may be forced to find a new hair salon after you move to a new location because of work, school, or family matters. Whatever the case, finding a new hair salon is never easy.

While most of us wish we could have a portable hair salon that you could whip out of your pocket and inflate, then have your hairdresser magically teleport and do what he/she does best, we have to come to terms with the fact that this is never going to happen. Luckily, there are a couple of helpful pointers you could consider that could help you find the perfect hair salon.

How to Find a New Hair Salon

1. Get on Instagram

If you haven’t been living under a rock for the past five years, then you probably know what Instagram is. The photo social app is great for advertising, and you’ve probably seen plenty of hair do-overs, short tutorials, and hair product advertising on the platform.

You can get a new hair salon from Instagram easily in two different ways. First, you can slide into anyone’s DMs as long as you follow the person in question, and if you like her hair, you can ask her where she gets it done. Second, you can go to the explore page and in the search tab type ‘hair salon in [location]’. You’re bound to have plenty of results with information on where you can find them. You’ll also get to check out a few samples of their work, so you know what they have to offer.

2. Just Ask Your Friends and Neighbors

Of course, grandma never has any great recommendations or referrals, but your friend may know a friend who knows a hairdresser with an exquisite salon.

Asking around may be the easiest and most obvious way to find a new salon, and, frankly, it works. What’s more, you don’t have to limit yourself to just family, friends, and neighbors. If you’re not too shy, you can ask anyone you see with a great hairstyle where she got it from or who does her hair. Be it the lady who serves you coffee or the lady with nine cats, no one is too threatening to ask. Remember, your whole summer might depend on it.

3. The Blow-Dry Test

If you’re still torn between a couple of hair salons to settle on, you could always try the blow-dry test and see how it goes from there.

The blow-dry test is not really a test per-se; all you have to do is visit the salons you have in mind and have a simple blow-dry, or maybe change your hair color. After all, 70% of women in America change their hair color. The main objective of this test is to establish rapport between you and your hair stylist and also get a clear picture of how things work. If a particular salon fits your fancy and passes the blow-dry test, then you can go all in.
